This video shows how the measuring tapes are made. They start with 3 dimesional computer design. They roll harden strips of steel and they paint the strips. After the paint dries, they make printing. Machine make measurement marking on to the strips. They use black for mm and red for meters. Next they heat the measuring tape for protecting plastic film applied by this machine to stick to it. Roller gives the concave shape to the tape. Blades cut the tape from the correct part. Then it punches a hole at the end of the tape. They attach a hook on the tape. Then they make spring and with the machine they place it to its place. They pour some oil near the spring. They test the spring action. They have rod of fibers and and they stick them together. Also they melt the hard palets to make it strong and flexible tape. Computer transfers the measurements. They inspect the measurements check the accuracy level. If it is more than 0.5, they reject that tape. It is interesting to learn that making a tape needs this much of steps.
