40. Toilet Paper

This video shows how the toilet papers are made. They were coming as a sheet and then one company offered a roll for them. They start with recycle paper. These papers are dropped into the tank with agetator. They take the other things from them like plastic or metal pieces. They make it as a “pulp” Particles attach to the bubble which are on the top. Then pulp go into rollers and they squeeze the water. Knives cut that part for the bleeching process. It goes into real white with chlorine and other types of chemicals. Pulp is dried with a hot water dryer less than a second and it turns out to be a delicate paper. Each rolls have 47 miles of paper. Production is rolling with 2 inches of carbone and 3 inches wine. Top of strip is covered by glue machine cuts the tubes. They go with elevator and toilet paper is rolled on the tubes. When the rolling is finished machine automatically cut the paper. Machine glue the end of the paper onto it. A blade cuts the tubes in the size of standard toilet paper roll. They are ready for packaging. For commercial use they are packed in a wrapping paper. The most interesting part about toilet papers was the making process of toilet papers by recycling the papers.

39. Bubble Gums

This video shows that how the bubble gums are made. It is based on a gum. They make now in synthetic. They make them from plastic and rubbers. They mix gum base, color and flavour. As it is mixing they pour glucoz syrup as a sweetener. Gum base keeps soft because syrup is liquid. They also add powdered sweetener. They mix all things for 20min. They melt şn together. They transfer it to new machine. It squeezes from the narrow openings. They go into extruders. From extruders they come as one long continued strip. It also heats the gum. Then they come to the cooling chamber. Then they line as a strip on the wrapping paper. Machine cuts the wrap and twists it from the each end. It processes for 900 pieces in a minute. This method and its speed was the most interesting part of this video. In packaging part they drop into a box automatically. They cover the boxes with plastic which keeps the gums fresh.

38. Bandages

This video shows how the bandages are made. With 1800 m. roll it can be done 1.8 million small bandages or 300,000 large bandages. A thin coating of glue is applied to one surface of the bandage. Then it goes into the oven which is heated to 49C it makes holes in the glue coating. Then they are cut into strips in different sizes. Then they have another roll of fabric the sharpened blades cut the fabric. These strips are ready to apply on the bandages. The bandages are wrapped so this protect the bandages. They make packaging it can be 300-1500 bandages in a minute. Cushion strips position in the center of ets bandages. They will be sterilized at the end of the fabric process. Roboting arms take the bandages between two wrapping papers. It can wrap 300 in a minute. Some bandages go several machines to be packed. The machines make holes which contribute air circulation and they also promote healing. They are sterilized 10,000 at a time. They are automatically counted and falls into the packaging box. In whole year they make 4 billion bandages in 65 different tyoes. The number of production in product and type of bandages was the most interesting point.

37. Erasers

This video shows that how the erasers are made. Fillers, acceleraters, curing aigens, oils, coloring and syntetic rubber. They put a batch of rubber into the mill it goes around the heated rolls. They also the defective erasers from the last producction. They sulfer for red coloring. They blend it 5-10 min. Until it has consistency. Then they add volcanized vegetable oil, normal vegetable oil and calsium carbonate as a filler. When the color and the thickness are right they take the rubber which is soft now. When they are cold they are cut into a large squares. They go into steam heated press at 183C for 20min. The pressure compacts the rubber. They trim off the excess then submerge it in cold water. For having 2 color they cut 2 types of color. Blue one has extra power for erasing. They load it into the steam press again. Again they submerge it into the cold water. Automatic machine cut the piece into the rubber. Then it goes into other machine which chops the edges of the strips. It drops into the barrels and they spin the barrel. They print company name on the rubber. Eraser power is made by volcanized vegetable oil. The most interesting part is to learn that rubbers contain so much ingredients including the vegetable oil.

36. Zippers

This video shows how the zippers are made. They are not put into clothing until the 1930s. Zip is made metal, plastic on the nylon. Fabric type of it is called tape. It is generally polyster or cotton. To make metal zip machine rolls tape into the teeth machine. Zips can be between 3-10mm. Workers feed machine tape and teeth in joining machine. They are locked and continues as a zip. Then it goes to the cleaning machine it washes and cleans the metal pieces. After drying the machine applies hot wax. This lubricates the teeth. Next it goes to the gapping machine which leaves 4mm holes between the zips. There are 2 types of zippers. One of them doesnt open from the bottom and they need bottom stop. The other one is open end zip which goes on jackets for ex. They attach a pin at the end of the zipper. A pin is a little vertical metal piece. Next machine installs the slider. The other machine attaches the top stop. Each zipper is cut from the holes. Plastic zippers are a little bit different. Tape is same but the zip is different. They inject a liquid plastic into hole and it is cut as a teeth. The most ineteresting thing about this video was when making plastic zips they pour the liquid plastic and later they cut it as in teeth shape.

35. Tubes

This video shows how the tubes are made. They are made of aluminum because aluminum is fortable, light weight and valuable. They put aluminum slogs and powder cob into container. Then container spins. The channel feeds slogs into forming machine. First Impact Extrusion occurs. This gives the shape includes the neck. Giving shape to the neck was the interesting part. Then 200 tons of pressure has been applied so with this pressure in one minute 150 slogs. Their long can be 1cm to 22cm. Turning machine makes cuts into neck. Stationary blades make it safe to use & smooth surface. There is a protective barrier between aluminum and contents. In printing machine roller makes outside in a polyester manner for preventing the sun damage. Then lids and bottoms are made. And in 500 tubes they inspect one of them. Then they sell empty tubes for 25 cents.
